map & directions

keys

  • ARRIVAL:
    • Your name will be on a guest list at the front desk.
    • Give them my name and apartment number, and your name. If anyone asks, you’re a friend of mine, which, of course, is now true. 😉
    • They will give you a temporary key to get into the apartment.
    • As soon as you get in, you will find a key, either on the kitchen counter or on a hook on the side of the refrigerator.
    • Take that key, and return the temporary key immediately, so that you have protection against getting locked out.
  • DEPARTURE:
    • Just leave the key on the kitchen counter and pull the door shut. Make sure the doorknob locks behind you.

BUILDING RULES

  • No loud music or parties
  • No pets or children playing in the hallways
  • Be respectful of neighbors
  • Don’t leave any garbage in the compactor room

Building Amenities

The building’s COVID rules currently don’t allow non-residents to use the amenities, but that may be lifted soon.

Contact me if you want to use the pool, gym or children’s playroom and I’ll check with the building. You access them from the 12th Floor. If the building allows, your name will be on a separate guest list for these amenities. Just tell the receptionist in the gym that you’re staying with me. They’ll direct you and answer any questions.

  • POOL:
    • Hours:
      • Monday – Thursday: 6:00a – 11:15a, 4:00p -10:15p
      • Friday: 6:00a – 11:15a, 4:00p -9:15p
      • Saturday – Sunday: 8:30a – 8:45p
    • Rules:
      • Everyone has to wear a bathing cap. You’ll find some in the front bathroom, either on the counter or in the pockets of the bathrobes.
      • Shower before entering the pool. There’s a shower poolside.
      • Children not yet toilet trained have to wear a pool diaper.
      • The building prefers that you wear a bathrobe when walking to and from the pool. Feel free to use the ones hanging on the door in the front bathroom (1 adult men’s, 1 adult women’s, and 1 child). However, in lieu of a bathrobe, just make sure you’re covered up, such as shorts and a t-shirt, beach wrap, etc., and footwear.
      • Street shoes must be removed and left outside the pool area. You’ll see a sign indicating such.
      • Water-safe shoes can be worn in the pool area, flip-flops, wet shoes, etc.
      • Read the rest of the rules posted on the wall in the pool area.
    • Note:
      • I think afternoons are better for kids. Adults tend to exercise in the morning.
  • GYM:
    • Hours:
      • Monday – Thursday: 6:00a – 10:30p
      • Friday: 6:00a -9:30p
      • Saturday – Sunday: 8:00a – 9:00p

KITCHEN

Use whatever you’d like in the kitchen, including the refrigerator. There’s plenty of coffee, tea, water, juice and ice. Just refill the ice trays before you leave. Find dishwasher supplies under the kitchen sink, including soap tablets and rinse agent.

LAUNDRY

There’s a laundry card on top of the refrigerator for operating the washing machines and dryers. The laundry machines are in the basement on level C1.

garbage

Don’t worry about emptying the garbage unless you have something you’d like to get rid of right away (dirty diapers, etc.). Throw all regular garbage down the chute in the compactor room. New York City recycles glass, metal, plastic and paper. The small tan bin under the kitchen sink is for recyclables. It’s too much to explain all the rules. Just put any glass or plastic bottles in recycling and the rest in the garbage can, also under the sink. New York City will survive. 😉

RULE: Don’t leave any garbage in the compactor room. Throw everything, except recyclables, down the chute. Leave the recyclables in the kitchen.

television

The television is a Smart TV, which means it’s connected to the Internet. We watch regular television through YouTube TV. The remote will be on one of the marble tables in the living room. Just press the red power button, and then use the arrow keys to navigate to the app you’d like to watch (YouTube TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.) Feel free to watch anything that doesn’t require an extra fee to rent or purchase.

  • NOT LOCAL, BUT WORTH THE TRIP:
    • Via Carota
      51 Grove Street
      New York, NY 10014
Recommended by my Italian girlfriend from Bari on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. She’s says it’s the best Italian restaurant in New York! Be sure to check their website for limited reservations, current COVID rules, payment options, etc.
    • Le Relais de Venise L’Entrecôte
      590 Lexington Ave
      New York, NY 10022
Steak frites straight from Paris! Only thing they offer is amazing steak and french fries. Just tell the waitress how you’d like your steak cooked: rare, medium or well. I recommend rare. Just don’t ask for medium rare. The steaks are too thin to be that precise.
